The Bhutanese textiles are integrated into all aspects of life in Bhutan- reflecting the country’s distinctive identity. The textile plays a great economic significance for many of our people. The textiles of Bhutan are truly the treasures of the world and the most advanced and sophisticated weaving cultures in the history of civilization.

In this Bhutan Magnificent Textile Tour, we will explore all the famous villages in Bhutan, which are famous in Bhutan Textiles. The villages like Khoma village in Lhuentse, Radhi village in Trashigang, and Khaling National Handloom Development center in Trashigang. Not only we will explore these villages but also we will experience practically how the Bhutanese women are using natural coloring and dying.

Itineraries

Day 01

ARRIIVED AT PARO

The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks, give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. Your Bhutanese escort from Authentic Bhutan Tours will greet you on arrival, and then drive you to the Paro Rimpung Dzong, the center of civil and religious authority in this region.

After this, we will have lunch in Paro town. We will visit the National museum and Kyichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan. Welcome dinner at hotel Paro. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 02

PARO - THIMPHU

Today after our breakfast in the hotel, we will hike to Taktshang Monastery, which is one of the most important pilgrimage spots in the Buddhism world. We will serve the lunch at the Taktshang cafeteria or we will bring a picnic lunch.

We will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Evening stroll around Thimphu town. Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu Hotel.

Day 03

THIMPHU

Today we will do sightseeing in Thimphu – visit National Memorial Chorten, Weaving Center, Textile Museums, Bhutanese Paper factory, and Handicraft emporium. Lunch will be served in one of the restaurant in Thimphu. In the afternoon, we will do the short hike-wangditshe hike. The hike starts from BBS tower and ends at Dechenphodrang, through the pine forest.

The hike will take about 1hour 30minutes. From this hike, we can see the whole Thimphu town so beautifully. Evening we will visit the Thimphu Tashichhoe Dzong. Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu hotel.

Day 04

THIMPHU - PHOBJIKHA

Drive to Phobjikha over Dochula pass (3150m). The pass is adorned with different kinds of prayer flags and 108 small stupas. From this pass, we can see the eastern Himalayan mountain ranges so magnificently on clear days. We will stop at Dochula cafeteria for tea or coffee break. Then we will continue our journey to Phobjikha.

Lunch will be served at Wangdi, Drangon Nest Resort. Continue our journey to Phobjikha. The phobjikha valley is the winter home to the endangered species of birds, the Black Neck Crane. On reaching Gangtey, we will visit the Gangtey Goenpa Lhakhang, the temple that is the most important temple in the Nyingmapa sect. Dinner and overnight stay at Phobjikha Hotel.

Day 05

PHOBJIKHA - BUMTHANG

Drive to Bumthang. The drive will take about 5hours. At Trongsa, we will visit the ‘Tower of Trongsa’. Lunch will be served at the Tower of Trongsa’s Cafeteria. Then we will continue our journey to Bumthang over the Yontongla pass.

At Chhumey we will stop to see the Yathra textile production. Yathra is woolen textile. Dinner and overnight stay at Bumthang Hotel.

Day 06

BUMTHANG HALT

Today after our breakfast, we will drive back to Chhumey to see the demonstration of how the woolen textiles are produced, dyed, and colored. Lunch will be served at Bumthang Hotel. After our lunch, we will visit to Jambay Lhakhang, the oldest monastery in Bhutan, Kurjey Lhakhang, and Tamshing Lhakhang.

After this, we will visit the Farm House for Bhutanese Dinner, local alcohol, and a hot stone bath. Over-night stay at Bumthang Hotel.

Day 07

BUMTHANG - LHUENTSHE

Drive to Lhuentshi will take about 6 hours 30minutes. Lunch will be served picnic pack lunch. On the way will stop at certain places for taking photographs. You will enjoy the scenic beauty of eastern Bhutan.Lhuentshi, specially Khoma Village is famous for Kushuthara textile production.

Kushuthara is the most prestigious Kira for every woman in Bhutan. Kushuthara has a white field pattern with dozens of different distinctive motifs, shaped like a diamond or half diamonds at the edges of the field Dinner and overnight stay at Camp at Lhuentshi.

Day 08

LHUENTSHE HALT

Today whole day we will experience the dying and the weaving of textile. Dinner and overnight stay in camp, Lhuentshi.

Day 09

LHUENTSHE - TRASHIGANG

We will drive to Trashigang. The drive will be about 6hours. Lunch will be served at Mongar. On reaching Trashigang, we will stroll around the small Trashigang town, and then we will drive to Rangjung for dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 10

TRASHIGANG - RADHI VALLEGE (DAY EXCURSSION)

Today we will visit the Radhi Village and see the raw silk textile and also the dying and coloring of raw silk. Lunch will be a picnic lunch. Towards the late afternoon, we will drive back to the hotel for dinner and over night stay. (Here we can also camp if our guest would like to stay in the camp).

Day 11

TASHIGANG - KHALING

Today we will make a day excursion to Khaling Handloom Development center. Here will have an opportunity to see how the handloom is playing an important in promoting weaving activities in the Kingdom. To promote the age-old tradition of weaving. Develop designs and color combinations; to uphold the age-old tradition of weaving and vegetable dyeing process. Lunch will be a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel or Camp.

Day 12

TASHIGANG - BUMTHANG

Today will have a long drive from Trashigang to Bumthang. The drive will take about 7hours 30 minutes. Lunch will be picnic pack lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in Bumthang Hotel.

Day 13

BUMTHANG - PUNAKHA

Drive to Punakha. On reaching Trongsa, visit the Trongsa Dzong. Lunch will be served at Chendebji Restaurant. Continue our journey to Punakha. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 14

PUNAKHA - PARO

Today we will visit the most beautiful dzong in Bhutan (Punakha Dzong) at Lobesa, we will hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility. The temple is located at a hilltop and we have to walk about 30minutes from the road end. Our lunch will be served at the Dochula cafeteria. Then we will continue our journey to Paro. Evening walk around the Paro town. Dinner and overnight stay in Paro Hotel.

Day 15

DEPART FROM PARO

After our breakfast drive to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. We wish you a very safe and pleasant journey back to your country. We hope to see you again in Bhutan in the future.

Visa clearance must be obtained through your tour operator prior to travel. For Indian passport (or VIC) holders, Bangladeshi nationals and persons from the Maldives may obtain a visa on entry.
