With leisurely drives, restorative massages, heartfelt interactions with monks and nuns, and the unforgettable (yet supported) hike to Tiger’s Nest, every detail ensures comfort while immersing you in Bhutan’s beauty and traditions.

Day 1
Entering the Kingdom of Happiness - Paro to Thimphu
Kuzuzangpola! Welcome to the serene Kingdom of Bhutan. Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport (2262m), you'll be greeted by your friendly Like Bhutan Travels representative, holding a personalized welcome sign. We'll ensure a smooth transition from the airport to our comfortable, spacious vehicle, designed for a relaxed journey.
To ease you into the altitude, we'll take a leisurely drive to Thimphu (approximately 1.5 hours/50 km), allowing you to settle in and admire the picturesque landscapes from the comfort of your seat.
Upon reaching Thimphu:
- We'll take a comfortable ride to the Great Buddha Dhordenma, a magnificent Shakyamuni Buddha statue nestled in the tranquil mountains. This serene location, built to honor the 60th anniversary of our beloved Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, offers a peaceful haven. You can relax and enjoy the gentle breeze while reflecting on cherished moments, all while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views. We'll ensure ample time for you to comfortably experience the peaceful atmosphere.
- Our journey will include a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a landmark dedicated to the Third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. With its easily accessible grounds and recent renovations, it's a comfortable and welcoming space. This sacred stupa is a daily gathering place for elderly Bhutanese, who find solace in circumambulating the structure, spinning prayer wheels, and sharing their prayers. You'll be able to witness and participate in this gentle, shared experience of devotion.
- We'll visit Simply Bhutan, an interactive 'living' museum. This easily accessible attraction offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience. You'll be welcomed with a small, optional taste of local 'arra' (rice spirit), and then guided through recreated village scenes. You'll have the option to observe demonstrations of traditional crafts and activities, including traditional clothing, archery, and the beautiful songs of Bhutanese women as they demonstrate rammed earth construction. It's a delightful and accessible way to gain a deeper understanding of Bhutanese traditions.
Day 2
Exploring Thimphu's Natural Wonders
Following a leisurely breakfast,
- We'll begin our day with a gentle nature walk at the Motithang Takin Preserve. This serene wildlife reserve is home to the takin, our national animal, a creature deeply rooted in Bhutanese history. The takin's unique appearance, with a goat's head and a cow's body, is attributed to the legendary Tibetan saint, Drukpa Kinley. We'll enjoy a gentle, refreshing stroll within the preserve's enclosed area, providing a comfortable opportunity to observe these magnificent mammals and connect with Bhutan's natural and cultural heritage.
- Imagine a vibrant tapestry of Bhutanese life unfolding before you! We'll take a gentle stroll to the Centenary Farmer's Market, affectionately known as the 'Sunday Market,' just a short, level walk from the heart of Thimphu. This isn't just a market; it's a living, breathing celebration of community. Witness the remarkable synergy as farmers from across the kingdom, after their week's hard work, bring their fresh produce to share. It's a heartwarming spectacle of tradition and sustainable trade, a true taste of authentic Bhutanese life.
- Imagine a serene oasis nestled along the Wangchhu River! We'll visit Changyul Park, a magnificent seven-acre haven, recently graced by the presence of Their Majesties the King and Royal Family. This beautiful park, inaugurated in August 2024, is a testament to Bhutan's commitment to a peaceful, greener future. Enjoy a gentle stroll along the river, surrounded by lush greenery, and feel the tranquility that this royal-inspired space offers.
- For your comfort and well-being, we've planned a delightful evening massage with experienced local Bhutanese masseuses. This gentle treatment will help ease any travel-related tension, allowing you to fully relax and prepare for the next day's adventures.
Day 3

- Our first stop will be the breathtaking Dochula Pass, a place where the air is crisp, and the views are simply magnificent! At the top, you'll find yourself surrounded by colorful prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and, if you fancy, we'll warm up with a cup of delicious, freshly brewed coffee or tea. - We’ll visit a truly charming spot, Chimi Lhakhang, a temple with a rich, centuries-old history. It's a place known for blessings and happy families, and it's simply lovely. Getting there involves a pleasant, 20-minute walk through the countryside. Think of it as a gentle ramble! We'll take it slowly, stop for rest on the benches provided, and truly savor the beautiful surroundings. No rush at all – we're here to enjoy the moment together, with plenty of smiles and shared stories.
- As the midday sun climbs, our scene shifts. Today, lunch unfolds as a cinematic picnic. Depending on the day's weather, we'll find ourselves nestled beside a whispering river, or deep within the emerald embrace of ancient woods. Imagine: a feast laid out amidst nature's grandeur, a symphony of flavors against a backdrop of rustling leaves or flowing water. Here, we'll surrender to the moment, nourishing both body and soul with the simple beauty of the wilderness.
- As the afternoon gently fades into evening, we'll be visiting a truly magnificent sight: Punakha Dzong. Imagine a grand, centuries-old fortress, a real masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture, nestled right where two beautiful rivers meet. It's a place rich in history and tradition, a symbol of Bhutan's heritage. We'll take our time exploring, so you can truly appreciate its beauty and grandeur.
Day 4
Punakha to Paro: A Mountain Ascent and Ancient Secrets
This morning, after a lovely breakfast, we're going to embark on a very special visit to Guenzhu Kepiling Center, a peaceful retreat high in the mountains above Punakha. It's a sanctuary specifically built for elderly monks who have dedicated their lives to spiritual practice. Imagine a serene place with breathtaking views of the valley, a perfect spot for quiet reflection. We'll have the opportunity to meet these wise monks, tour their beautiful home, and bring them some essential groceries. This small act of kindness is included in your travel cost, and if you feel moved to offer anything extra, it will be deeply appreciated. It's a chance to share a moment of peace and contribute to their well-being.
- Then embark on a scenic 3–4-hour drive back to Paro, descending from Dochula Pass and tracing the dramatic river valleys.
- Enroute, we'll pause for a delightful tea break beside the tranquil lake at the Royal Botanical Park, Lampelri. Imagine sipping your tea while surrounded by the peaceful beauty of nature. This park is a truly special place, a haven of conservation. The park is especially famous for its magnificent rhododendrons. If we were here in April or May, we would be treated to a spectacular display of them all in bloom.
With our visit complete, we'll continue our journey towards Paro. We'll be traveling at a comfortable pace, and we'll take breaks whenever anyone feels they need to. We'll ensure it's a pleasant and restful ride
Day 5
Leisurely Moments in Paro
After four enriching, yet demanding, days of travel, and with tomorrow's grand hike awaiting, you've earned a day of complete rejuvenation. This is your time to replenish body and soul, to unwind and prepare for the highlight of our journey. We'll embrace a gentle pace, indulging in restorative activities designed to soothe and revitalize.
- Following a nourishing breakfast, we'll journey to the serene Tenchen Choeling Nunnery, a Buddhist sanctuary for nuns overlooking the picturesque Paro Valley. This sacred site, founded in the 14th century by the revered Kecho Barawa Gyeltshen Pelzang, a being of profound spiritual significance, offers a unique glimpse into monastic life. We'll dedicate the morning to engaging with the nuns, learning about their daily routines and the rich tapestry of their lives. To further support your well-being, we will be arranging for prayers to be offered by the nuns. These prayers will be specifically intended to bring you robust health, a long and fulfilling life, and prosperity in all your endeavors. We are confident that these prayers will create a positive impact and contribute to your overall happiness and success.
- We'll visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in a former watchtower. Explore its extensive collection of antique thangka paintings, textiles, weaponry, and historical artifacts.
- To conclude our day, we'll experience the warmth of Bhutanese hospitality with a visit to a charming farmhouse. We'll be treated to a traditional dinner, and we'll even have the opportunity to participate in preparing some of the dishes, learning from the farmhouse owner's expertise. It's a chance to immerse ourselves in Bhutanese culture and share some joyful moments. A lovely, peaceful way to end the day, with our thoughts already turning to the wonders of Tiger's Nest.
Day 6
The Climax of Your Journey: The Tiger's Nest Beckons.
After breakfast, we'll be visiting one of Bhutan's most iconic sites, Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger's Nest. It's a breathtaking temple built on a steep cliff, a testament to Bhutanese architecture and faith. To get there, we'll be hiking uphill. It's a hike of about 3-4 hours at a comfortable pace. We understand that everyone has different levels of mobility, so we've planned for horses to take you partway up. Also, there's a cafeteria halfway up the trail that offers a beautiful view of the monastery. It's a perfect place to rest and enjoy the scenery if you don't wish to hike all the way.
- After your triumphant descent from Tiger's Nest, allow the soothing warmth of a traditional hot stone bath to melt away any lingering weariness, a gentle reward for your spirit.
- Tonight, we share a final, special dinner, creating lasting memories with your guide and driver, who have journeyed beside you, not just as guides, but as friends.
