Druk Wangyal Tshechu

Immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of Bhutan's triumph at the annual Druk Wangyel Festival, a celebration born in 2011. This spectacular event commemorates the courageous victory of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and the nation's armed forces in 2003, a pivotal moment etched in Bhutanese history. Each December 13th, the unique Druk Wangyel Tsechu unfolds at the Druk Wangyel Lhakhang Festival Ground, nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of Dochula Pass (3,100 mts), just 22 kilometers from Thimphu.

Witness a rare and moving spectacle as the Royal Bhutan Army, not monks or laypeople, performs this powerful tribute to the Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, honoring their vital role in safeguarding Bhutan's sovereignty and stability. The Druk Wangyel Festival, a testament to Bhutan's rich culture, is the vision of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. Her enduring legacy extends to the Druk Wangyel Lhakhang, the festival's stunning venue, and the serene 108 Khangzang Chortens, both enriching the majestic beauty of Dochula Pass.
